Q. What if there's an emergency while I'm in the library or on the SOM campus?

Answer:

For life-threatening emergencies:
 
Dial 7-9-1-1   (VA Police)
 
Dial  803-695-6804  (VA Police)
 
Dial 9-1-1
 
Press a library panic button located on the first floor by the main entrance or on the second floor by the middle carrel door.
Hold the button down for at least 5 seconds. There will be no sound, but the police will be notified and respond.
 
For non-life-threatening emergencies, such as needing an escort to your car or finding an unsecured door, you can call the SOM night security guard at 803-201-9180.
The guard is on duty M-F 6 pm-7 am and weekends 6 pm-midnight.
